Pre K- Lorax- Our Pre- k classes learned about the importance of trees by using Media technology and Arts Integration. The students listened to the book The Lorax by Dr.Suess and then created their own trees. Students then decided why Trees are important to them.
Kindergarten-Insects- Our Kindergarten students were learning about insects by creating a Insect Research Project. They also learned about the importance of recycling.
1st Grade- Birds- 1st grade studied birds, they researched bird types, bird habitats, and ways to protect birds. The document Bird Expedition outline goes into great detail of the unit plan with additional documentation.

1st grade - Pumpkin Life Cycle- Students learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin from seed to harvest. They completed the worksheet below, and every year they are able to see the lifecycle of the pumpkin in the school's garden.

2nd Grade- Animals- Second grade researched animals and the habitats they live in. The students learned that preserving habitats and natural resources will ensure the survival of these animals. Below are a few pictures of the dioramas the students created. Students also created posters about the animals .
3rd Grade- The 3rd grade science learned about different types of trees in the classroom. In the art room they then read a story about trees and painted their favorite type of tree.
4th Grade- Zebra Fish with Bio-Eyes,
. Students had the opportunity to learn all about Zebra fish, what habitat they live in as well as the purpose of a habitat and how it differs from zebra fish to humans. They learned how they get oxygen because they have gills versus humans having lungs. Students were responsible for completing a Micro Agent Handbook detailing all that they had learned during the 5 day hands on learning project.

5th Grade- Plant Life Cycle with hands on learning creating a cd case plant observatory. Our 5th grade students used recycled cd cases to start a plant where they were able to watch ,observe and label the Stages of Germination from Radicle , Primary Root, Hypocotyl, Cotyledons to Follage Leaves
3rd-5th grade energy lessons with the Baltimore Energy Challenge -Energy Class
Students in these grades participated in a 6 week energy lesson course. Students learned about Renewable energy, they used the kilowatt meter to see how much energy appliance used. They also took energy saving pledges

The Annual Trip to North Bay with all graduating 5th Grade Students
Since 2011 the Fifth grade classes take a wonderful adventure to celebrate the end of their time in Elementary School This program teaches environmental learning at North Bay. Here students have the opportunity to experience many different activities including finding shells while wading in the Chesapeake Bay and try their hand at a high robes obstacle course just to name a few.
Annual Chick Hatching
Each Spring our students get to experience and learn about the life cycle of Chickens by using an incubator in the Art Room. They learn that it takes 21 days in the incubator to hatch and do drawings of the chickens as well as seeing the stages of the chick egg developing . All students in the school are able to watch and anxiously await the hatching .Students now understand where eggs come from. They inquire about when we are going to get our new eggs as soon as they come back to school in the fall.
