Community Partnerships
Hanlon Community Association is a sustained partnership with the school for 6 years. The School helps the association with the annual Arts in the Park and Healthy Living Fair. Hilton students also led recycling art workshops at these community events and the canvass the neighborhood and encourage the community to join these events. Students from Hilton also start herbs at the school and give away plants at these community events.
Parks and People- The students and school have been planting Trees with Parks and People surrounding the school -yard every year since 2011. 45 Trees have been planted some of these trees have been donated by Parks and People as well as grant purchased Fruit Trees in our Orchard
Great Kids Farm- Since 2011, every year Hilton students participate in the Good Food Summit at Great Kids Farm. In 2013 they won an award for best use of vegetables for an Italian soup. Students have also participated in fieldtrips to Great Kids Farm. 20 Students in Fall of 2013 and 40 Students in Spring of 2014 have and will learn about gardening, food, composting, bees, at Great Kids Farm and return to the school and share their knowledge with other students.
Baltimore Energy Challenge-Our School Community Started this Partnership in 2012. We won the Challenge that year and became a Energy Hub School for having the most Pledges Promised to reduce Energy use. The School hosted the AmeriCorps Volunteer who provided Energy Savings Kits to the Community. We are also a Energy Hub for 2013-2014.
Baltimore Office Sustainability-

Office of Sustainability- The
Office of Sustainability develops and advocates for programs, policies, and
actions by government, citizen, businesses, and institutions that improve the
long-term environmental, social, and economic viability of Baltimore City. In
addition to overseeing and tracking the implementation of the Baltimore
Sustainability Plan, the Office integrates sustainability into City government
operations and develops partnerships with ground performing related work. Hilton
Elementary School’s Green work has helped the city strive towards its goal in
the City’s Sustainability Plan- Every School in Baltimore City will become a
Green School. Hilton Elementary was been awarded 7 Green, Healthy, Smart
Challenge grants and the students have implemented Sustainability and Energy
Projects in their school. The Office of Sustainability has provided grants to
Hilton and has connected Hilton’s Green team to resources and additional
partnerships. The school began this partnership in 2011 and it continues today
with the school receiving grants totaling $2000 in 2014.
