Orchard- native trees and habitat for bees...Three years ago we started our school orchard by planting 3 fruit trees . Each year we have added several more trees and have begun enjoying fruit from our Orchard. We are now up to 13 Fruit Trees . This includes native Maryland Trees and creates a wonderful habitat for bees for pollination.
Tree Plantings around school with students to create habitat. We have worked with Parks and People doing 3 Tree Plantings . In each planting 30 Students in grades 3rd through 5th had the opportunity to have hands on experience learning about what trees that they were planting the importance of the placement to help in water run off and to create shade for our school yard and building .They learned that some of these trees are native to Maryland and create a Habitat for local species including the Baltimore Oriole and Raven . You will see that our First Graders have learned all about birds and their habitats in our curriculum section.
